Respond Positively
Knowledge is power {Francis Bacon}. Most people will agree with that but having knowledge alone will not make you powerful. You have to do something with that knowledge. You have to apply the knowledge you gain to your life. You can attend thousands of meetings on how to stop smoking but until you develop and implement your own plan to quit, the knowledge is stagnant.
Changes in behavior validate that you are using the knowledge you gain wisely. To do this you have to listen, hear and respond to what you hear in a positive way. Do you think that you are very good at that? I know that I am not quite where I need to be.
Your loved ones say things to you all the time. Do you have the pulse of your relationships? Are you using that information you have to make things better or ignoring the pulse while making things worse. That kind of knowledge deserves a response and sometimes requires us to change our behavior. You know what your loved ones like and dislike but you alone can decide if you will make that knowledge meaningful.
It is all a matter of choice. You focus on what is important to you at that time and in that moment. You can become overwhelmed by the stressful situations that are staring you in the face and as a result lose sight of what the priorities are in your life. The people in those situations are communicating verbally and non-verbally. What are they saying? What are the real issues in the situations? Addressing those issues may help to solve the problems. In order to do that you have to listen, hear and respond positively. (C) Patinspire
