You want what you do to mean something. You want to make a meaningful contribution. You want to change the course of events. Simply put, you want to make a difference. Your actions must mean something to someone. Know that what you do and say can have magnificent results and that you have the ability to change the course of events.
Would you like to know when your actions change the course of events and change people’s lives positively? I know that I do! People love being told that they are doing a great job, that they are making a difference. Smart employers utilize this fact to their benefit and develop reward and recognition programs that acknowledge the contributions that employees are making in the workplace. That positive difference is directly related to goal accomplishment and outcomes. Increased employee satisfaction leads to better results for any organization.

Making a difference is not just about financial gains and goal accomplishment. More importantly, it should focus on individual efforts to do the best at every opportunity. Sometimes you are not positioned to see the results of your actions and do not get a glimpse of the chain reaction that follows.
Do you look at people and situations with a mindset to make things better for them or to improve their situation? These are the kind of actions that brighten anyone’s day. Do you remember that customer service representative who went above and beyond to take care of your needs or the woman on the train who showed you the greatest degree of kindness or the man in the store who ran after you with your wallet?
People who make a difference manipulate situations for the good. They fix what could have been an otherwise disastrous situation. I know that I will remember those people forever. The ones that come and in an instant turn things around. You, yes you! You are one of those people! That individual impact that you create is important.
Look around you, there are people who are influencing others through kindness, love and respect while instilling hope and courage. That, to me is magical. Those deliberate actions and activities that initiate and cause positive results are destined to change the lives of the people they affect forever. (C)
